Decision CRTC 2000-404

Ottawa, 5 October 2000

Elmer Hildebrand, on behalf of a company to be incorporated
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – 200006420

Application processed by
Public Notice CRTC 2000-122
dated 23 August 2000

Approval of technical parameters

1.

The Commission approves the application to amend the technical parameters for the new FM radio programming undertaking at Saskatoon approved in Decision CRTC 2000-73. The station will operate on the frequency 98.3 MHz (channel 252C1), with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts.

2.

In its decision dated 13 March 2000, the Commission licensed the new station. However, because the Department of Industry was unable to give technical certification to the technical parameters originally proposed (106.7 MHz, channel 294C1), Mr. Hildebrand was directed to propose new parameters based on the use of a different frequency.

3.

The Department of Industry has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable. The Department will only issue a broadcasting certificate once it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

4.

In accordance with section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the above-mentioned amendment will only be valid when the Department of Industry certifies to the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate has been or will be issued.

5.

The Commission acknowledges the intervention received in support of this application.
