Six-month administrative renewal

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the television programming undertaking CFMT-TV Toronto and its transmitters CFMT-TV-1 London and CFMT-TV-2 Ottawa, from 1 September 2000 to 28 February 2001, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licence.

The Commission heard the application for the renewal of this licence at the 4 July 2000 Public Hearing held in Toronto. However, it will not be able to rule on this application before the current licence expires.

The decision released today does not dispose of the renewal application, nor of any substantive issue that may exist with respect to the renewal of this licence. The Commission will issue a decision on the licence renewal application at a later date.
