Decision CRTC 2000-17
Ottawa, 19 January 2000
Native Communication Inc.

Thompson, Brochet, Selkirk and Peguis, Manitoba – 199811386

16 November 1999 Public Hearing in Saskatoon

Licence amendment for CINC-FM

1.

The Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CINC-FM Thompson by:

  • deleting the transmitters CICY-FM Selkirk and CIPM-FM Peguis;
  • adding a transmitter at Brochet, operating on the frequency 96.9 MHz, channel 245LP, with an effective radiated power of 4.5 watts; and
  • deleting from the licence "…and programs received from the Aboriginal Multi Media Society of Alberta’s studios at Lac La Biche (CFWE-FM)" and adding "…and programs received from studios in Winnipeg".

2.

The licensee will use transmitter CICY-FM Selkirk for its new type B radio programming undertaking at Selkirk, approved in Decision CRTC 2000-18 of today's date and CIPM-FM Peguis will become a transmitter of the new undertaking.

3.

Native Communication Inc. (NCI) has indicated that it will split feed its commercials between Selkirk (southern Manitoba) and Thompson (northern Manitoba), while still allowing clients the option to air their commercial spots on the full NCI FM radio network.

4.

In accordance with section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the above-mentioned amendment will only be valid when the Department of Industry certifies to the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate has been or will be issued.
