| In this decision, the Commission approves amendments to the licences of radio stations CFWB Campbell River, CHQB Powell River and CFNI Port Hardy. These amendments, set out below, will allow the stations to broadcast programming received from studios at Courtenay in addition to the varying amounts of local programming that they now broadcast. | |
| 1. | The Commission approves the applications to amend the broadcasting licences for CFWB Campbell River, CHQB Powell River and CFNI Port Hardy, by deleting "with local programming" and adding "with local programming and programs simulcast from studios at Courtenay." The source of programming appears on a station's licence. |
| 2. | CFWB has been providing up to 18 hours and CHQB and CFNI have each been providing up to 12 hours of local programming daily. All three stations will now provide local programming from 6 a.m. until 12 noon with the programming for the remainder of the day being simulcast from studios at Courtenay. The licensee indicated that this reduction in local programming was necessary due to a decrease in revenues and that studios will continue to be maintained in each community, to provide access for special events or emergency messages. |
| 3. | The Commission acknowledges the interventions received with respect to these applications and is satisfied with the licensee's reply to the intervention regarding CHQB. |
