The Commission has received the following applications:

WESTERN CANADA AND TERRITORIES REGION
|
1. LAKE BONAVISTA, A SUBDIVISION OF CALGARY; GREENFIELD AND RHATIGAN RIDGE, SUBDIVISIONS OF EDMONTON, Alberta
|
Applications (199901385, 199901377) by TELUS COMMUNICATIONS INC., 21st Floor, 10020 - 100 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 0N5, to renew the licences of the broadcasting distribution undertakings serving the above-noted localities, for the purpose of conducting market and technical trials, expiring 31 May 1999.

TELUS Communications Inc. is seeking approval to continue its experimental interactive multimedia technical and marketing distribution undertaking field trial for an additional year, until 31 May 2000.
|
In addition to the current conditions of licences the licensee is proposing the following conditions of licences:
|
a) All programming decisions related to TELUS Multimedia be made by the management of TELUS Multimedia, excluding any directors and officers of the TELUS Communications Inc., who are also directors or officers of TELUS Corporation;
|
b) The Vice President of TELUS Multimedia, will ensure that all programming decisions are made within TELUS Multimedia;
|
c) The Vice President of TELUS Multimedia will have final authority for all multimedia programming decisions and will establish the proper processes to ensure programming decisions are made at the appropriate management level and adequately documented;
|
d) That all information provided by the management of TELUS Multimedia, to TELUS Corporation or to the board of directors or officers of TELUS Corporation or TELUS Communications Inc. or any individual director thereof, will not include information with respect to TELUS Multimedia programming decisions without the consent of the Vice President of TELUS Multimedia and until after such decisions have been properly made, documented and implemented; and,
|
e) That the Vice-President of TELUS Multimedia and management associated with programming be Canadian citizens as defined in the Direction to the CRTC (Ineligibility of Non-Canadians).

In the event that the application is brought to the oral phase of a hearing it would be helpful to the Commission if you provide reasons why your written comments are not sufficient and an appearance is necessary;
