The Commission has received the following applications:
1. EASTERN CANADA
Application (199805496) by TMN NETWORKS INC. (known as "MOVIEPIX") to amend condition of licence no. 1 of its English-language (pay television) programming undertaking. The applicant is requesting the deletion of the five-year copyright limitation on the distribution of feature films and theatrical releases.
MOVIEPIX's condition of licence currently reads:
The licensee shall provide a regional, English-language general interest pay television programming service in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland. The service shall consist of feature films and theatrical releases (subcategory 7(d) of Item 6, Schedule I of the Pay Television Regulations, 1990) copyrighted at least five years prior to the broadcast year in which they are distributed by the service, and filler programming (category 12). Other programming shall be limited to programs that are feature-film-related and intended to set in context the feature film or films they accompany in the schedule.

2. WESTERN CANADA
Application (199807137) by WIC PREMIUM TELEVISION LTD. (known as "MOVIEMAX") to amend condition of licence no. 1 of its English-language (pay television) programming undertaking. The applicant is requesting the deletion of the five-year copyright limitation on the distribution of feature films and theatrical releases.
MOVIEMAX's condition of licence currently reads:
The licensee shall provide a regional, English-language general interest pay television programming service in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon and Northwest Territories. The service shall consist of feature films and theatrical releases (subcategory 7(d) of Item 6, Schedule I of the Pay Television Regulations, 1990) copyrighted at least five years prior to the broadcast year in which they are distributed by the service, and filler programming (category 12). Other programming shall be limited to programs that are feature-film-related and intended to set in context the feature film or films.

 Intervention
