Public Notice CRTC 1999-162
The Commission has received the following applications:
ONTARIO REGION
1. SUDBURY AND TIMMINS, Ontario
Applications (199911285, 199911293) by THE HALIBURTON BROADCASTING GROUP INC. (Haliburton) to amend the broadcasting licence of radio programming undertakings CHYC Sudbury and CKOY Timmins, by deleting the following condition of licence:
"It is a condition of each licence that the licensee shall, in any broadcast week, devote 65% or more of its musical selections from content category 2 to Canadian selections broadcast in their entirety."
With the deletion of this condition of licence, the licensee would nevertheless be subject to a 35% Canadian content obligation pursuant to the Radio Regulations, 1986.
In decision CRTC 99-404, the Commission approved in part applications by Haliburton to acquire the assets of CHYC Sudbury and CKOY Timmins from Pelmorex Radio Inc. and to convert these two stations from the AM band to the FM band.
The applicant advises that it had inadvertently included a 65% Canadian content commitment as opposed to 35% in those applications.
