3. WINDSOR, Ontario |
Applications (199902929, 199902937, 199902945) by CHUM LIMITED to amend the broadcasting licence of its radio programming undertakings CKWW, CIMX-FM and CIDR-FM Windsor. |
In Public Notice CRTC 1998-132, the Commission announced that the minimum level of Canadian popular music on radio would increase from 30% to 35%, to be met both daily and weekly. It was noted in the Commercial Radio Policy 1998 (Public Notice CRTC 1998-41) that "..some licensees, in exceptional circumstances are currently subject to conditions of licence allowing for lower minimum Canadian content levels than that generally required by way of regulation..." The Commission expects these licensees to continue with their current commitments." |
These applications reflect the current level of Canadian content required to be broadcast by each of the stations. The texts of the proposed conditions of licence set out below would bring the licences into conformity with the revised Radio Regulations, 1986. |
As an exception to the percentage of Canadian musical selections set out in subsection 2.2(8) of the Radio Regulations, 1986, it is a condition of licence that the licensee shall, in a broadcast week, devote 20% or more of its musical selections from content category 2 to Canadian selections broadcast in their entirety and, |
As an exception to the percentage of Canadian musical selections set out in subsection 2.2(9) of the Radio Regulations, 1986, it is a condition of licence that the licensee shall, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., in any period beginning on Monday of a week and ending on Friday of the same week, devote 20% or more of its musical selections from content category 2 to Canadian selections broadcast in their entirety. |
The adoption of the reduced weekly Canadian content level reflects the level currently imposed as a condition of licence for each of the stations. |
