Telecom Order

Ottawa, 13 May 1999

Telecom Order CRTC 99-437

By letter dated 7 November 1997, Telecom Media International Italy - Canada Inc. (Telecom Media) applied for an exemption from contribution charges with respect to Centrex services provided by Bell Canada (Bell) in the 416-368 exchange. In support of its application, Telecom Media provided an affidavit dated 7 September 1997 affirming that the Centrex system is used by Telecom Media staff for making and receiving administrative telephone calls.

File No.: 8626-T19-03/97

1.By letter dated 27 October 1998, Bell stated that the services correspond to its records and the affidavit appears to satisfy the evidentiary requirements. However, Bell stated that administrative circuits are only eligible for an exemption when they are not connected to the reseller's interexchange network. Bell agreed with the exemption subject to Telecom Media providing a revised affidavit affirming that the Centrex system is not connected to a private line interexchange network or to other Centrex systems used in a multiple-hop configuration.

2.By letter dated 2 March 1999, Telecom Media provided a revised affidavit pursuant to Bell's suggestions.

3.By letter dated 9 March 1999, Bell stated that the revised affidavit confirms that the Centrex system is used for administrative calls and is not connected to a private line interexchange network or to other Centrex systems used in multiple-hop configurations. Accordingly, Bell agreed with the exemption.

4.The Commission is of the view that the revised affidavit meets the evidentiary requirements.

5.In light of the foregoing, Telecom Media's application is approved, effective the date of installation, such that no contribution is payable.
