  TELUS COMMUNICATIONS INC. AND TELUS COMMUNICATIONS (EDMONTON) INC. - REVISIONS TO DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE SERVICES
  File Nos.: TCI Tariff Notice (TN) 1063 and TCEI TN 93
  1. The Commission has received applications under TN 1063 from TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI) and under TN 93 from TELUS Communications (Edmonton) Inc. (TCEI) (the companies), both dated 20 July 1998, for approval of proposed changes to their Directory Assistance Tariff Items 1001 and 2603, respectively.
  2. The companies' Directory Assistance services now provide currently listed telephone numbers and/or addresses to customers when provided with the name of a TCI or TCEI subscriber.
  3. The companies propose to expand the existing service to give currently listed name and/or address information when provided with a telephone number.
  4. The companies' proposed tariffs specify that, at the customer's request, neither name nor address information will be disclosed through Directory Assistance.
  5. The Commission invites comments on the companies' proposals, and in particular on customer privacy issues related to provision of name and address information in response to a given telephone number.

  12.
