  Public Notice CRTC 1998-47

Public Hearing for New French-language Specialty Services

  The Commission has received the following application:
  ATLANTIC AND QUEBEC REGION
  1. SHERBROOKE, Quebec
  Application (199702460) by RADIO-SOLEIL-ESTRIE, P.O. Box 25136, Station King West, Sherbrooke, Quebec, J1J 4M8, for authority to use the frequency of 100.3 MHz (channel 262A) for the proposed French-language radiocommunication distribution undertaking at Sherbrooke (CIRA-FM-1), operating with an effective radiated power of 2300 watts.
  In Decision CRTC 96-732 dated 4 November 1996, the Commission approved, with the exception of the technical parameters proposed, the application for a broadcasting licence to carry on a radiocommunication distribution undertaking consisting of an FM radio transmitter at Sherbrooke to distribute, in non-encrypted mode, the programs of CIRA-FM Montréal, Quebec.
  The Commission notes that the above changes deal with the concerns raised in Decision CRTC 96-732 dated 4 November 1996.
  Examination of application:

Sherbrooke, Quebec

  -  your intervention should clearly identify the application and indicate whether you support or oppose the application, or if you propose changes to it, with facts and grounds therefor. In the event that the application is brought to the oral phase of the hearing it would be helpful to the Commission if you provide reasons why your written comments are not sufficient and an appearance is necessary;
