Telecom Order

Ottawa, 10 September 1998
Telecom Order CRTC 98-909
Thunder Bay Telephone proposed to revise its Internet Access Service tariffs to provide reduced rates for service to certified and approved non-profit groups. The application was filed as Tariff Notice 66 dated 17 July 1998.
File No.: Tariff Notice 66
1.The Commission also notes that in Internet Forbearance, Telecom Public Notice CRTC 98-17, dated 22 July 1998, the Commission initiated a proceeding to consider forbearance from the regulation of Internet service for several companies including Thunder Bay Telephone.
2.The Commission notes that this application proposed discounts for designated groups which extend beyond the Commission's determinations in Tariffs for Educational and Health Service Entities, Telecom Decision CRTC 96-9, dated 27 September 1996. The Commission is not persuaded that an extension of discounts as proposed in this application is justified.
3.In light of the foregoing, the Commission denies Tariff Notice 66.
