Telecom Order CRTC 98-908
On 5 June 1998, Télébec ltée (Télébec) filed an application for approval of tariff revisions reflecting the withdrawal of a business local measured service named "Service de ligne à messages tarifé" effective 1 September 1998.
File No.: Tariff Notice 190
1.The service provides for a limited number of calls at the basic rate after which each additional call is metered and charged back to the customer.
2.In Telecom Order CRTC 98-681, 10 July 1998, the Commission approved the application on an interim basis and ordered the company to notify the affected subscribers of the Commission's interim disposition and of their opportunity to provide comment to the Commission prior to final disposition.
3.The Commission received one intervention with regard to the withdrawal of service. The subscriber objected to the size of the rate increase caused by the withdrawal of the service.
4.In reply to the subscriber's comment, Télébec acknowledged the significant rate increase resulting from the withdrawal of the service. Télébec nevertheless argued that it was no longer able to maintain the necessary equipment and billing systems for the limited number of remaining customers.
5.In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that the proposed tariff revisions are approved on a final basis.
