Telnet Communications (Telnet) filed an affidavit dated 23 April 1998 requesting an exemption from contribution charges with respect to a Centrex system. The affidavit affirmed that the Centrex system in the Hamilton exchange is used solely for local or single-hop calling.

1. By letter dated 11 May 1998, Bell Canada (Bell) stated that Telnet's affidavit meets the evidentiary requirements for a contribution exemption for single-hop or local services. Accordingly, Bell agreed with the requested exemption.
2. The Commission is of the view that Telnet has met the evidentiary requirements for a contribution exemption for single-hop and local services.
3. In light of the foregoing, the Commission approves Telnet's application effective the date of application (in this case, the date of the affidavit, 23 April 1998).
