Telecom Order CRTC 98-500
On 22 July 1996, Québec-Téléphone filed an application for approval of interim interconnection agreements with Sprint Canada Inc. and fONOROLA Inc. (the Agreements) for the switched traffic terminated by these two companies in the telephone exchanges connected to the toll switches in Ste-Marie and Rimouski.

1. The Commission notes that Telecom Order CRTC 96-181 dated 26 February 1996 confirmed that the interim regime for the interconnection of interexchange carriers with the independent telephone companies in the Province of Quebec as established by Telecom Order CRTC 95-558 dated 11 May 1995 applied to Québec-Téléphone for 1996.
2. By letter dated 12 September 1997, the Commission approved the Québec-Téléphone final 1996 contribution rate.
3. In Québec-Téléphone - 1997 Contribution, Telecom Public Notice CRTC 98-7, 23 March 1998, the Commission initiated a proceeding to finalize the Québec-Téléphone 1997 contribution rate.
4. The Agreements provided that the terms applicable to Sprint Canada Inc. and fONOROLA Inc. would be different from those of the interim interconnection regime.
5. The Commission also notes that the Agreements were to terminate upon implementation of equal access.
6. The Commission notes that equal access has been available in the Québec-Téléphone territory since 1 January 1998.
7. In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that the application be denied.
