Telecom Order

Ottawa, 16 April 1998
Telecom Order CRTC 98-355
On 24 March 1997, Téléphone Guèvremont Inc. (Guèvremont) filed an application for approval of depreciation life characteristics.
File No.: 8630-G1-01/97
1. The Commission has reviewed the depreciation life characteristics contained in the attached Table.
2. The Commission finds these depreciation life characteristics to be reasonable.
3. The Commission notes that, according to Regulatory Treatment of the Asset Write-up Resulting from the Purchase of Le Téléphone Bon-Conseil Inc. by Le Téléphone Guèvremont Inc., Telecom Decision CRTC 98-3, 17 March 1998, Guèvremont has been directed to submit revised financial statements which exclude, for regulatory purposes, the asset write-up, the accumulated depreciation as well as any funding of the asset write-up. Furthermore, although Guèvremont assumed approval of the asset write-up in making the present application, the Commission notes that the present approval does not imply approval of the asset base of the company upon which this application was based.
4. The Commission intends to initiate, later in 1998, a public process to develop and put into place a more simplified process for depreciation filings by indepedent telephone companies.
5. In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that:
The accounts listed in the attached Table be depreciated using the depreciation life characteristics contained therein.
