Decision CRTC 98-430
Radio MirAcadie Inc.
Newcastle (Miramichi), New Brunswick - 199803193
Licence amendment for a special event
1. Following Public Notice CRTC 1998-69 dated 16 July 1998, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the French-language FM community radio programming undertaking at Newcastle (Miramichi) (the originating station), by authorizing the licensee to add temporary transmitters at Rogersville, Baie Ste-Anne and Neguac, operating on frequency 99.9 MHz (channel 260LP) with an effective radiated power of 31 watts, for the purpose of broadcasting programs during the special event "Festival d'automne".
2. The Commission notes that the licensee is authorized to broadcast programs during different festivals held from June to September each year until 30 September 1999 (Decision CRTC 96-636).
3. The technical parameters approved in this decision are for low-power unprotected FM services. Accordingly, the licensee would have to select another frequency for the operation of the services should optimum utilization of the broadcasting spectrum so require.
4. The Department of Industry has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
5. In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment and the authority will only be granted at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Industry that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
