Licence amendment for TSN
|
|
1. Following Public Notice CRTC 1998-50 dated 19 May 1998, the Commission approves the application by The Sports Network Inc. (TSN) to amend the licence of the national English-language specialty television programming undertaking known as "The Sports Network" (TSN), by amending the condition of licence providing a definition of the term "broadcast day" found in the appendix to Decision CRTC 94-603. Pursuant to the amended condition of licence, "broadcast day" is defined as follows:

b) "broadcast day" means a 24-hour period beginning at 00:00:01 hour Eastern time;

2. The licensee indicated that since the launch of TSN in 1984, its operations, including programming and advertising, have been based on a 24-hour cycle beginning at midnight. In proposing an amendment to the definition of broadcast day, the licensee is seeking to have this definition correspond to its operational day.

|
3. In approving this application, the Commission has taken into account the fact that the proposed definition of "broadcast day" will not affect program logs nor Canadian content on the TSN service.
|
|
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
