The Commission has received the following applications:
1.  SASKATOON, Saskatchewan
Application (199705969) by FORVEST BROADCASTING CORPORATION to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CJWW, by increasing the day-time power of the station from 10,000 to 25,000 watts and by decreasing the night-time power from 10,000 to 8,000 watts.
The licensee also proposes to relocate its transmission facilities to a site approximately 7 kilometers southwest of the current site.
The licensee states that the proposed changes would enhance the station's daytime service to listeners in central Saskatchewan.

2.  BANFF, Alberta
Application (199703401) by the CANADIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CBPH-FM Banff, by changing the frequency from 101.3 MHz (channel 267LP) to 101.1 MHz (channel 266LP).
The licence states that during the testing of the transmitter, it was determined that there was objectionable interference on 101.3 MHz from CKUA-FM-6 Red Deer.

3.  TABER, Alberta
Applications (199700042, 199708947) by MONARCH BROADCASTING LTD., 361 First Street South East, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 0A5, to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CKTA Taber, as follows:
-  by replacing the current 1570 kHz CKTA Taber facilities with those of 1090 kHz CKRX Lethbridge; and
-  by adding a low power transmitter at Taber operating on the frequency 92.7 MHz (channel 224LP) with an effective radiated power of 42 watts.
The licensee states that the addition of a low power transmitter at Taber will enable it to serve a number of small areas which will not receive adequate coverage by the 1090 kHz frequency.

4.  WHITEHORSE, Yukon Territory
Application (199706066) by NORTHERN NATIVE BROADCASTING, YUKON to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CHON-FM Whitehorse, by increasing the effective radiated power from 81.3 to 4,261 watts and by changing the channel class from 251A to 251B.
The applicant states that the improved signal strength will provide extended coverage to the northwest and to the southeast along the local highways in the area, as well as improve coverage in the downtown area of Whitehorse.

5.  WHITEHORSE, Yukon Territory
Application (199703351) by TOURISM INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF THE YUKON, P.O. Box 2703, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Y1A 2C6, to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CKYN-FM-6 Whitehorse (the originating station) as follows:
-  by changing the frequency of CKYN-FM-6 from 96.1 MHz (channel 241LP) to 96.9 MHz (channel 245VLP) and by decreasing the effective radiated power from 13 to 8.9 watts; and
-  by adding an FM transmitter in Whitehorse, operating on the frequency 96.1 MHz (channel 241VLP) with an effective radiated power of 7.9 watts.
The applicant also proposes to relocate the transmitter of CKYN-FM-6 to a site approximately .34 kilometers northeast of the current site.
The Commission notes that the new transmitter at Whitehorse is intended to fill-in areas which will lose coverage as a result of the change in the transmitter site of CKYN-FM-6.
