Telecom Public Notice CRTC 97-9
Reference: Tariff Notice 603
The Commission has received an application under Tariff Notice 603 from Northwestel Inc. (Northwestel), dated 27 January 1997, for approval of tariff revisions providing for a revenue-neutral rebalancing of local and long distance rates, proposed to be effective no later than 27 June 1997.
Under Northwestel's proposal, local network access rates would increase by $4.00 per month across rate groups within each service category. In addition, long distance rates in the rate schedules for Northwestel's western operating area would decrease. The company states that this is intended to continue the harmonization of the eastern and western rate schedules as contemplated in Bell Canada and Northwestel Inc. - Sale of Facilities in the Northwest Territories, Telecom Decision CRTC 92-6, 1 May 1992. The long distance rates in Northwestel's Adjacent Schedule I would decrease by as much as $0.15 per minute and would decrease by as much as $0.04 per minute in the Trans Canada Schedule.
