REDEPLOYMENT OF SATELLITE CHANNELS
|
|
1. The Commission received an application from ExpressVu Inc. (ExpressVu), dated 22 September 1997, under Part VII of the CRTC Telecommunications Rules of Procedure, requesting the Commission to issue orders, pursuant to subsection 28(2) of the Telecommunications Act (the Act), directing Telesat Canada (Telesat) to (1) relocate the services currently provided by CableSat from its existing two RF Channels on Anik E2 Ku-band (channels T-7 and T-8) to two RF Channels on Anik E C-band, within 30 days of the Commission's decision (or some other reasonable time as determined by the Commission) and (2) redeploy the two Ku-band RF Channels freed up by the relocation in accordance with its normal allocation procedures.

2. ExpressVu noted that, as an unrestored customer due to the loss of satellite service at the time of the March 1996 satellite failure, it understands that these channels would be allocated to ExpressVu in the course of the proposed redeployment.

3. ExpressVu requested expeditious consideration of its application.
|
|
4. Telesat is directed, pursuant to subsection 28(3) of the Act, to provide by 24 November 1997, with respect to its role as a telecommunications common carrier, an assessment of any operational constraints which would result from the proposed RF Channel reassignment. Telesat may also file other comments relating to the application by that date.

5. Interested parties may file comments with the Commission by 24 November 1997, serving a copy with ExpressVu by the same date.
|
|
6. ExpressVu may provide its reply comments by 4 December 1997, serving a copy with interveners by the same date.
|
|
