BELL CANADA - REVIEW OF RATES FOR RADIO PAGING AND TELEPHONE NUMBER ACCESS
Reference: 97-8661
1. The Commission received an application from Rogers Cantel Inc. (Cantel), dated 5 February 1997, requesting a review of the rates currently charged by Bell Canada (Bell) to radio paging system operators for access to its public switched telephone network. In response to Cantel's application, by letter dated 16 May 1997, the Commission ordered that (1) Bell's paging and other telephone number access (TNA) number rates be made interim, (2) Bell be required to file an updated cost study for paging and other TNA numbers within 120 days from the 16 May 1997 letter, (3) Bell be directed to issue within 14 days, tariff pages incorporating access number rates of $14.00 per 100 active numbers and $4.00 per 100 reserved numbers for the existing radio paging and other TNA number rates on an interim basis, and (4) a public process be established to enable any interested party to review Bell's updated cost study.
Procedure
2. The submissions of Cantel dated 5 February 1997 and 17 March 1997, Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) dated 19 February 1997 and Bell dated 7 March 1997, along with the Commission's 16 May 1997 letter, may be examined at the offices of the CRTC in the following locations:

5. The parties who have so far participated in this proceeding, namely Cantel and CWTA, will be considered parties to this proceeding.
6. Other parties wishing to participate in the proceeding must notify the Commission of their intention to do so by writing to Mr. Allan J. Darling, Secretary General, CRTC, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0N2, fax: 819-953-0795, by 16 June 1997. The Commission will issue a complete list of registered parties and their mailing addresses.
7. By 15 September 1997, Bell shall file copies of its updated cost study for paging and other TNA numbers with the Commission and registered parties.
8. Interested parties may address interrogatories to Bell. Any such interrogatories must be filed with the Commission and served on Bell by 6 October 1997.
9. Responses to interrogatories are to be filed with the Commission and served on all parties by 24 October 1997.
10. Parties may file comments regarding the proposed costs by 7 November 1997.
11. Bell may file its reply by 18 November 1997.
12. Where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be actually received, not merely mailed, by that date.
13. In addition to hard copy filings, parties are encouraged to file with the Commission electronic versions of their submissions in accordance with the Commission's Interim Telecom Guidelines for the Handling of Machine-Readable Files, dated 30 November 1995.
