Telecom Public Notice CRTC 97-2
Reference: Tariff Notices 3542, 3542-A, 3558, 3559, 3561 and 3562
The Commission has received applications under Tariff Notices 3542 (TN 3542) and 3542A from BC TEL, dated 6 November 1996 and 15 November 1996 respectively, for approval of tariff revisions providing for a rate group consolidation of basic exchange service and the elimination of exchange line and locality rate area mileages.
Under the proposed consolidation, residence rates would increase by a monthly amount ranging from $0.05 to $1.50 (1% to 13%). Monthly business rate impacts would range from a reduction of $15.25 to an increase of $6.80 (-15% to 19%).
BC TEL proposed to eliminate Exchange Line and Locality Rate Area Mileages, which currently apply to individual line service and existing two-party line service outside of a base rate area, in exchanges that have not yet been upgraded under the Rural Upgrade Program.
