3.  VANCOUVER, British Columbia
Application (199702486) by VANCOUVER TELEVISION INC. to amend the broadcasting licence of the (television) programming undertaking CIVT-TV Vancouver, by changing the transmitting channel from 42 to 32 and by decreasing the effective radiated power from 726,000 to 710,000 watts.
The Commission approved the application by Vancouver Television Inc. for a new, independent, English-language television service in Vancouver in Decision CRTC 1997-39 dated 31 January 1997.
In his rationale for the change, the applicant states that the lower channels are technically preferred for UHF transmissions. Channel 42 was chosen for the original application so as not to be technically mutually exclusive with other applicants who had applied for channel 32.
The applicant states that there will be no change in the proposed coverage in the populated service areas of the station.
