Application (199708244) by WESTERN CO-AXIAL LIMITED, 1603 Main Street West, Hamilton, Ontario, L8S 1E6, to amend the broadcasting licence of its cable distribution undertaking serving the above-noted localities as follows:
|
a) by deleting the local head end;
|
b) by authorizing the licensee to interconnect its cable distribution undertaking through the use of optical fibre with its cable system serving part of Hamilton, part of Ancaster, Dundas and surrounding area and part of Flamborough, Ontario;
|
c) by deleting the condition of licence authorizing the distribution, at its option, of WXYZ-TV (ABC) and WDIV (NBC) Detroit, Michigan, received via satellite from CANCOM as part of the basic service. (The licensee is currently not distributing these programming services);
|
d) by adding WNEQ-TV (PBS) Buffalo, New York (duplicate carriage) on the basic service to be received via optical fiber;
|
e) by adding a condition of licence, pursuant to section 12 of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 ("the Regulations") to allow the distribution of CBLT-TV Toronto, Ontario on a restricted channel; and
|
f) by adding a condition of licence, to be relieved, of the requirement of section 9 of the Regulations to distribute the priority signal of CKNX-TV (IND) Wingham (regional station). The licensee will instead distribute CFPL-TV London, Ontario.

a) deleting the transmitter of CBCK-FM Kingston from the licence of CBL Toronto; and
|
b) adding the CBCK-FM Kingston transmitter to the licence of CBO-FM Ottawa.
|
The CBC expects that "this will provide a more consistent and relevant Eastern Ontario service to listeners in the Kingston area."
