Public Notice CRTC 1997-122
The Commission has received the following applications:
QUEBEC AND ONTARIO REGIONS |
1. REPENTIGNY, Quebec AND LONDON, Ontario
Applications (199707403, 199707410) by BELL CANADA, Suite 600 South, 105 Hôtel-de-Ville Street, Hull, Quebec, J8X 4H7, to amend its broadcasting licences to carry on broadcasting distribution undertakings (BDUs) for the purpose of conducting technical and market trials, one in part of Repentigny and the other in part of London, as follows:
a) by seeking relief from the Commission's distribution and linkage policy, for both the Repentigny and London undertakings, to select a single U.S. superstation, at its discretion, and package it with one or more Canadian specialty and/or pay services, in one or more tiers that are receivable by subscribers only by using an addressable digital decoder. Bell seeks authorization to include the designated superstation in one or more tiers because its addressable digital system allows for a variety of non-exclusive tiering arrangements; and
b) to be relieved of the requirement to distribute the priority signals CFTU-TV (IND) and CJNT (IND) Montréal, Quebec, on the basic band of its Repentigny undertaking pursuant to subsection 9(1) of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986. Bell proposes to distribute these signals on channels above channel 13.
