Application (199701024) by FAIRCHILD RADIO (VANCOUVER FM) LTD. to amend the broadcasting licence to be issued for the (radio) programming undertaking CHKG-FM Vancouver, by increasing the effective radiated power from 40,000 to 46,000 watts.
The licensee also proposes to relocate the transmission facilities to a site approximately 300 meters to the northwest.
The Commission approved the application by Thomas Fung and Roger Charest for a new, ethnic radio programming undertaking at Vancouver in Decision CRTC 96-288 dated 29 July 1996.
The applicant states that the transmitting parameters used in the Engineering Brief in support of that original application were based on establishing the transmitting site at the CFMI-FM transmitter site and multicoupling into the existing CFMI antenna. Subsequent measurements have shown that the performance of the CFMI antenna at the proposed channel 241 frequency is not technically acceptable. Consequently alternate transmitting arrangements were investigated and the proposal now is to establish the station at the CBC FM/TV broadcast site and multicouple into the CBC FM antenna.
