Telecom Order CRTC 97-93
IN THE MATTER OF an application by Maritime Tel & Tel Limited (MT&T) under Tariff Notice 583 dated 30 January 1996, proposing to require customers with Two-Party service to upgrade to Single Party service in those exchanges which have been declared Single Party under the Single Party Development Program.
WHEREAS, by letter dated 25 March 1996, the Commission directed MT&T to inform affected subscribers of the proposed changes;
WHEREAS in September 1996, MT&T informed subscribers pursuant to the Commission's direction;
WHEREAS a number of subscribers commented opposing the proposal to upgrade customers to Single Party service;
WHEREAS MT&T responded to the subscribers' comments indicating, among other things, that the company has invested in facilities to provide Single Party service as the basic grade of service in Nova Scotia;
WHEREAS the Commission considers that it is appropriate that Single Party service be designated as the basic grade of service and that Two-Party service be withdrawn in those exchanges declared Single Party; and
WHEREAS in light of the all the information received -
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:
Tariff Notice 583 is approved effective 1 May 1997.
