Telecom Order

Ottawa, 20 May 1997
Telecom Order CRTC 97-663
The Commission received an application filed by Bentley International Communications (Bentley) dated 4 February 1997 for an exemption from contribution for single-hop Centrex services.
File No.: 97-8626-B11-01
1. In support of its application, Bentley provided an affidavit dated 29 January 1997 affirming that the services for which an exemption is requested are used solely to provide single-hop services to its customers.
2. By letter dated 3 April 1997, Bell Canada (Bell) noted that the affidavit provided with Bentley's application did not identify the specific services involved. Bell submitted that the application by Bentley should be treated as a request for advance approval and that a subsequent affidavit should be required once services are established.
3. Bentley filed an amended affidavit dated 9 April 1997 affirming that two Centrex circuits installed on 4 April 1997 are used to provide the single-hop services.
4. By letter dated 23 April 1997, Bell agreed that the second affidavit provided by Bentley identified the specific services involved and that the submission satisfies the evidentiary requirements for exemption from contribution for single-hop Centrex services.
5. Accordingly, Bell agreed with the requested exemption.
6. The Commission is of the view that Bentley has met the Commission's evidentiary requirements for single-hop Centrex services as set out in Applications for Contribution Exemptions, Telecom Decision CRTC 93-2, 1 April 1993.
7. In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that:
Bentley's application for single-hop Centrex services is approved effective the date of the affidavit, 29 January 1997.
