Telecom Order CRTC 97-1336
On 14 August 1997, Ontario Northland Telecommunications (O.N. Tel) filed an application for approval of tariff revisions to its General Tariff Item 2491, reflecting the introduction of Call Answer and Voice Mail Services.

1. The Commission notes that the company applied to offer a competitive voice messaging service without providing tariffs for access by potential voice messaging competitors to its telephone network.
2. In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that:
c) The proposed tariff revisions are approved.
d) The Commission considers that O.N. Tel should be prepared to make the necessary underlying services available to potential voice messaging competitors requiring access to its telephone network upon demand.
e) O.N. Tel is to issue, within 10 days of the date of this Order, revised tariff pages reflecting the approval of this application including a statement that the company will make available upon demand, and with the approval of the Commission, the underlying services to permit a competitive voice messaging provider to access the company's telephone network.
