Telecom Order CRTC 97-1246

On 8 July 1997, Amtelecom Inc. (Amtelecom) filed an application for approval of tariff revisions to: (a) change the present Wikwemikong Locality Rate Area (LRA) to a Base Rate Area (BRA) for primary exchange service rate administration; (b) establish a new LRA of West Bay, currently part of the Rural Rate Area, for primary exchange service rate administration; and (c) establish Extended Rate Area Service between the Manitowaning/Wikwemikong and Little Current and the Mindemoya and Gore Bay exchanges.

1. Amtelecom conducted a survey of the customers to be affected by this proposal. A significant majority of those who voted were in favour of the proposal.

2. In light of the foregoing, the Commission orders that:

The proposed tariff revisions to become effective on 1 October 1997 are approved.
