New native radio programming undertaking
|
|
1. Following a Public Hearing in Montréal beginning on 7 July 1997, the Commission approves the application for a broadcasting licence for an English- and Native-language low-power FM radio programming undertaking at Kanehsatake, on the frequency 101.7 MHz, channel 269LP, with an effective radiated power of 27 watts.

2. Consistent with Public Notice CRTC 1990-89 dated 20 September 1990 entitled Native Broadcasting Policy and subject to the requirements of this decision, the Commission will issue a licence for a Type B FM native radio undertaking. This licence will expire on 31 August 2003, and will be subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.

3. The Commission notes that the applicant will broadcast 96 hours per week of local programming, of which 41 hours will be in Mohawk, 54 hours will be in English and one hour in French.
|
|
4. The applicant is reminded of the requirements for Canadian musical selections set out in the Radio Regulations, 1986.
|
|
5. It is a condition of licence that the applicant broadcast no more than an average of 4 minutes of advertising per hour per day, with a maximum of 6 minutes in any given hour, in accordance with the native radio policy for Type B stations.
|
|
6. It is a condition of licence that the licensee adhere to the guidelines on gender portrayal set out in the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' (CAB) Sex-Role Portrayal Code for Television and Radio Programming, as amended from time to time and accepted by the Commission.
|
|
7. It is also a condition of licence that the licensee adhere to the provisions of the CAB's Broadcast Code for Advertising to Children, as amended from time to time and accepted by the Commission.
|

This decision is to be appended to the licence.
