3. Consistent with Decision CRTC 97-143 dated 15 April 1997, the licensee is relieved from the requirement to distribute the extra-regional station CFTU-TV (IND) Montréal, received off air, in view of the poor reception quality of the signal, as confirmed by the Department of Industry.
4. It is a condition of licence that, for community programming and any other programming of a service that it originates, the licensee adhere to the guidelines on the depiction of violence in television programming set out in the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Voluntary Code Regarding Violence in Television Programming, as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission.
5. In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy, the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In this regard, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
6. In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act (the Act), this renewal is subject to the issuance of a Broadcasting Certificate by the Department of Industry.
7. The Commission draws the licensee's attention to subsection 22(4) of the Act which provides that any broadcasting licence issued, amended or renewed in contravention of section 22 of the Act is of no force or effect.
8. The Commission acknowledges the intervention filed by C.E.F. Ganesh Corporation in relation to this renewal application.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
