The Commission has received the following applications:
|
|
ATLANTIC REGION

|
Applications by ISLAND CABLEVISION LTD., 100 Cable Court, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, C1B 1A9, to amend the distribution of all its (cable) and (radiocommunication) distribution undertakings.
|
|
The licensee proposes to replace the American stations WXYZ-TV (ABC) Detroit, Michigan, WTOL-TV (CBS) Toledo, Ohio, WLBZ-TV (NBC) Bangor and WMED-TV (PBS) Calais, Maine, with the ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS Boston affiliates. It should be noted that the licensee does not and will not carry the CBS service on its (radiocommunication) distribution undertakings (STV systems).

The applications require an amendment to the broadcasting licences of the (cable) Class 1 undertaking and the (radiocommunication) undertakings as follows:
|
|
a) Class 1 (cable) Licence - Charlottetown
|
|
- by adding a condition of licence authorizing the licensee to distribute, at its request, on the basic service, the programming services of WHDH (NBC), WGBH-TV (PBS), WBZ-TV (CBS) and WCBV-TV (ABC) Boston, received via satellite;
|
|
b) (Radiocommunication) distribution undertakings licences
|
|
- by deleting the distribution of WXYZ-TV (ABC) Detroit, Michigan, WLBZ-TV (NBC) Bangor and WMED-TV (PBS) Calais, Maine; and
|
|
- by adding the distribution, in encrypted mode, of WCBV-TV (ABC), WHDH (NBC) and WGBH-TV (PBS) Boston, received via satellite, using low power television transmitters.
|
|
The licensee is currently authorized to carry ABC, NBC, PBS, CHCH-TV Hamilton, Ontario, The Sports Network (TSN) and the Atlantic Satellite Nework (ASN) and does not propose any changes to the authorized channels alloted to each undertaking.
