The Commission has received the following applications:
1. HALTON CABLE SYSTEMS INC.
Georgetown and Rockwood, Ontario
WESTERN CO-AXIAL LIMITED
Fergus-Elora, Grimsby and Hamilton (Part of)/Dundas/Stoney Creek, Ontario
Applications (199604822, 199604830, 199604848, 199604856, 199604864, 199604872):
a)  to transfer the control of Halton Cable Systems Inc. to 1167656 Ontario Inc. (Newco), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Western Co-Axial Limited (Western) following which Halton and Newco will amalgamate under the new name of Halton Cable Systems Inc., and to increase the voting rights of Clairvest Group Inc. in Western from 29.99% to 42.46%; and
b)  to amend the broadcasting licence of the (cable) distribution undertaking serving Georgetown (a Class 1 system) as follows:
-  by authorizing the licensee to interconnect its (cable) distribution undertaking through the use of optical fibre with the (cable) distribution undertaking Western Co-Axial Limited serving Part of Hamilton, Dundas, Part of Ancaster and surrounding area, Ontario (a Class 1 system);
-  by adding WNEQ-TV (PBS) Buffalo,New York on the basic service, received by optical fiber;
-  by being authorized, by condition of licence, to alter the signals of U.S. satellite services for the insertion of promotional material in certain of the local availabilities of those services; and
-  by being authorized to originate a video game service as a special programming service offered on a discretionary basis.
