Licence renewal for CKHR-FM
Following Public Notice CRTC 1996-25 dated 20 February 1996, the Commis-sion renews the broadcasting licence for Type A community radio programming undertaking CKHR-FM Hay River, from 1 September 1996 to 31 August 2000, subject to conditions in effect under the current licence, as well as to those conditions specified in the licence to be issued.
The licence term granted herein, while less than the maximum of seven years permitted by the Broadcasting Act, will enable the Commission to consider the next licence renewal of this undertaking in accordance with the Commission's regional plan for community radio undertakings across Canada and to better distribute the workload within the Commission. This term is not reflective of any Commission concern regarding the licensee's performance.
The Commission notes that CKHR-FM broadcasts 3 hours per week of locally- produced programming. For the remaining hours, the station rebroadcasts the programs of CFMI-FM New Westminster.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
