Decision

Ottawa, 9 January 1996
Decision CRTC 96-1
1093641 Ontario Limited
Newmarket, Ontario - 951898600
Operation of C
Following a Public Hearing in the National Capital Region beginning on 30 October 1995, the Commission approves the application for a broadcasting licence to continue the operation of CKDX-FM Newmarket.
The Commission will issue a licence to 1093641 Ontario Limited, expiring 31 August 1999, the current expiry date, upon surrender of the current licence issued to CKAN 1984 Limited. The licence will be subject to the same conditions as those in effect under the current licence, as well as to any other condition specified in the licence to be issued.
The licensee is a corporation wholly owned and controlled by Mr. Gary Turnbull.
The Commission received two interventions opposing this application on the basis of various court judgments and unresolved claims against CKAN 1984 Limited. In the Commission's view, the issues raised in the interventions constitute a private dispute that would be best resolved between the parties.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
