APPLICATIONS FOR AMENDMENTS CONCERNING (COMMERCIAL FM) RADIO PROGRAMMING UNDERTAKINGS

The Commission has received the following applications:

ATLANTIC AND QUEBEC REGION

1. BRIDGEWATER, BLOCKHOUSE, LUNENBURG AND SURROUNDING AREAS, Nova Scotia
|
Application (951665900) by BRAGG COMMUNICATIONS INCORPORATED, P.O. Box 158, Oxford, Nova Scotia, B0M 1P0, to change the authorized service area of the (cable) distribution undertaking serving the above-mentioned localities, by including Blue Rock and Stonehurst for a total of 180 additional households.

2. MONTRÉAL, Quebec
|
Applications (952348100, 952349900) by VIDÉOTRON LTÉE and CF CÂBLE TV INC.:
|
a) to amend the broadcasting licences of the (cable) distribution undertakings serving Montréal, by deleting the condition of licence authorizing the licensees to continue the distribution of a specialty ethnic programming service. It is a condition of licence that the licensees shall not distribute on this ethnic service any commercial message other than prestige sponsorship. The licensees propose to replace this service with the new multilingual television station, CTEQ Télévision Inc., once in operation; and
|
b) to amend the broadcasting licences by adding a condition of licence to be relieved from the requirement that the licensees distribute this service on the basic band, pursuant to subsection 9(1) of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986. The licensees undertake to distribute the multilingual tele-vision service of CTEQ Télévision Inc. on the basic service, on channel 24 of their respective undertaking once the station is opened and to try to maintain the distribution on this channel, so as to not irritate the subscribers who have been receiving this service for several years.
