Telecom Order CRTC 95-832
IN THE MATTER OF an application by AGT Limited (AGT) under Tariff Notice 631 dated 22 June 1995, and applications by BC TEL under Tariff Notice 3329, Bell Canada (Bell) under Tariff Notice 5521, The Island Telephone Company Limited (Island Tel) under Tariff Notice 385, Manitoba Telephone System (Manitoba Telephone) under Tariff Notice 141, Maritime Tel & Tel (MT&T) under Tariff Notice 542, The New Brunswick Telephone Company, Limited (NBTel) under Tariff Notice 463, and Newfoundland Telephone Company (Newfoundland Telephone) under Tariff Notice 435, all dated 23 June 1995, pertaining to the provision of automatic announcements to the customers of service providers that have been disconnected, and the bulk transfer of customers from the carrier identification code of one service provider to that of another.
WHEREAS the Commission issued Telecom Decision CRTC 95-5, Disconnection of Equal Access Service Providers and Transfer of Customer Base Between Equal Access Service Provider, dated 24 April 1995 (Decision 95-5);
WHEREAS, in Decision 95-5, the Commission directed the Stentor telephone companies to file tariffs for (a) automatic announcements to the cusomers of service providers that have been disconnected and (b) bulk transfer of customers from the carrier identification code of one service provider to that of another, and to changes in carrier identification code assignments;
WHEREAS Decision 95-5 also directed the Stentor telephone companies to file a proposed text for the automatic announcement;
WHEREAS, in response to Decision 95-5, the telephone companies filed the above Tariff Notices; and
WHEREAS, the Commission has examined the Tariff Notices filed -
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:
The proposed tariff revisions submitted by AGT under Tariff Notice 631, BC TEL under Tariff Notice 3329, Bell under Tariff Notice 5521, Island Tel under Tariff Notice 385, Manitoba Telephone under Tariff Notice 141, MT&T under Tariff Notice 542, NBTel under Tariff Notice 463 and Newfoundland Telephone under Tariff Notice 435 are given interim approval with the exception of the charge associated, with the"Once-only announcement creation fee", which is deferred.
