Telecom Order CRTC 95-1326
IN THE MATTER OF an application by The New Brunswick Telephone Company, Limited (NBTel) under Tariff Notice 488 (TN 488) dated 5 October 1995, for approval of a one year market trial of Caller Originated Billing to be offered to Cellular Service Providers.
WHEREAS the proposed service allows a cellular service provider to offer "calling party pays" services to its cellular subscibers, whereby the call originator may call a cellular customer by dialing a 1-600-XXX-XXXX number, and the charge for the call will be billed to the orginating customer;
WHEREAS the calling customer will be notified that there will be a charge associated with the call by the way of a recorded message and the calling customer will have the opportunity to abandon the call at this point without incurring a charge;
WHEREAS the Commission received comments from Unitel Communications Inc., Rogers Cantel Inc., MicroCell Telecommunications Inc. and the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association;
WHEREAS no party objected to proceeding with the market trial; and
WHEREAS the Commission has given consideration to the application in light of all the information and comments received and the company's replies thereto -
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:
The revisions to tariffs filed under Tariff Notice 488 are approved effective 6 December 1995 for a one year period.
