Licence amendment for CKMO-FM
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-169 dated 10 October 1995, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CKMO-FM Victoria by increasing the hours of broadcast from 30 to 45 hours per broadcast.
In its application, the licensee stated that the additional 15 hours will consist of spoken word programming, primarily instructional, including programs for college and university credits. Moreover, the licensee indicated that the new programming would not duplicate any programming provided by the other stations serving Victoria, including that provided by CFUV-FM Victoria, the other campus/community radio station in the martket.
The Commission notes that this amendment is consistent with the mandate for campus instructional stations set out in Public Notice CRTC 1992-38 dated 29 May 1992 entitled "Policies for Community and Campus Radio" and that the primary goal of providing students in broadcasting courses with a training ground will not be jeopardized as a result. The Commission also notes that this proposal will not change the station's Promise of Performance as it pertains to music percentages and news/spoken word programming.
