Decision

Ottawa, 27 November 1995
Decision CRTC 95-864
Dene Tha Communication Society
Chateh, Alberta - 941541500
Licence renewal for CKCA-FM
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-79 dated 12 May 1995 and Decision CRTC 95-669 dated 30 August 1995, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CKCA-FM Chateh, from 1 December 1995 to 31 August 1999, subject to the conditions in effect under the current licence, as well as to those conditions specified in the licence to be issued.
The licence term granted herein, while less than the maximum of seven years permitted by the Broadcasting Act, will enable the Commission to consider the next licence renewal of this undertaking in accordance with the Commission's regional plan for native radio undertakings across Canada and to better distribute the Commission's workload. This term is not reflective of any Commission concern regarding the licensee's performance.
The Commission notes that CKCA-FM will broadcast 13 hours per week of local programming and rebroadcast 113 hours each week of programs originating from CFWE-FM Lac La Biche.
The Commission notes that this station is a Type A FM native radio station in accordance with Public Notice CRTC 1990-89 dated 20 September 1990 entitled "Native Broadcasting Policy".
