Decision CRTC 95-706
Silver City Broadcasting Society
Silver City, Yukon Territory - 950117200
New radiocommunication distribution undertaking
Following a Public Hearing in the National Capital Region held on 17 July 1995, the Commission approves the application for a licence to carry on a radiocommunication distribution undertaking consisting of one low-power television transmitter to serve Silver City.
The Commission will issue a licence to Silver City Broadcasting Society, expiring 31 August 1999, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
The licence term granted herein, while less than the maximum of seven years permitted under the Broadcasting Act, will enable the Commission to consider the renewal of this licence in accordance with the Commission's regional plan and to better distribute the workload within the Commission.
In Decision CRTC 94-395 dated 12 July 1994, the Commission approved an application by the Kluane Lake Athletic Association (the Association) to renew the licence of its radiocommunication distribution undertaking (CFSI-TV) authorized to distribute the programs of the CBC Northern Television Service. The Commission notes that the Association intends to surrender this licence upon approval of the above-noted application. The undertaking approved herein will continue to distribute, in non-encrypted mode, the programming of the CBC Northern Television Service, on channel 13 with a transmitter power of 20 watts.
It is a condition of licence that construction of this undertaking be completed and that it be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or, where the applicant applies to the Commission within this period and satisfies the Commission that it cannot complete implementation before the expiry of this period and that an extension of time is in the public interest, within such further period of time as is approved in writing by the Commission.
