Licence renewals
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-37 dated 2 March 1995, the Commission renews the licences held by Northern Cablevision Ltd., for the cable distribution undertakings serving Athabasca and Sexsmith, from 1 September 1995 to 31 August 2002.
The operation of these undertakings is regulated pursuant to Parts I and III of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 and the licences will be subject to the conditions in effect under the current licences, as well as to those conditions specified in the licences to be issued.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. The Commission recognizes the licensee's involvement in various employment initiatives including its support of women, Aboriginal Peoples and disabled persons in broadcasting. The Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
