Decision CRTC 95-45
AGI Cablevision Inc.
Lyons, Ontario - 932380900
Licence amendment
Following Public Notice CRTC 1994-136 dated 31 October 1994, the Commission approves the application to amend the licence for the cable distribution undertaking authorized to serve Lyons, by authorizing the licensee to interconnect this undertaking with the undertaking serving Aylmer through the use of optical fibre and by adding a distant head end.
The licensee is also authorized to distibute duplicate U.S. network services WJKW-TV (CBS) Cleveland, Ohio and WEWS-TV (ABC) Erie, Pennsylvania which have been distributed on the Aylmer undertaking for many years. In addition, the license is authorized to distribute WOIO-TV (FOX) Cleveland, received via optical fibre, as part of the basic service.
In assessing this application, the Commission has taken into consideration the fact that the licensee will, at no additional cost, increase the number of programming services provided to subscribers in Lyons. The Commission notes that the licensee is currently paying Canadian Satellite Communications Inc. $0.75 for the delivery of CHCH-TV Hamilton and that the interconnection with Aylmer will eliminate this cost. The Commission is of the view that subscribers should benefit from this cost saving and strongly expects the licensee to ensure that the reduction in its costs as a result of the approval granted herein be reflected by an appropriate reduction in the basic monthly fee for affected subscribers, upon implementation of the interconnection.
