Decision

Ottawa, 7 July 1995
Decision CRTC 95-415
Colonel T.D. O'Rourke
CFB Goose Bay (Labrador), Newfoundland - 941235400
Addition of CJON-TV
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-68 dated 28 April 1995, the Commission approves the application for authority to distribute CJON-TV (CTV) St. John's, received via satellite, as part of the basic service of the cable distribution undertaking
serving CFB Goose Bay.
The Commission notes that the licensee of CJON-TV, Newfoundland Broadcasting Company Limited, stated that it would accept local advertising from CFB Goose Bay businesses. It further notes that there are currently no local television stations serving this market. The Commission is satisfied that the distribution of CJON-TV will enhance the choice of Canadian programming services offered to subscribers.
The Commission acknowledges the intervention submitted in support of this application.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
