Decision

Ottawa, 6 July 1995
Decision CRTC 95-394
Humber Valley Broadcasting Company Limited
Stephenville, Newfoundland - 941242000
Licence renewal for CFSX
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-10 dated 20 January 1995, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CFSX Stephenville from
1 September 1995 to 31 August 2002, subject to the conditions in effect under the current licence, as well as to those conditions specified in the licence to be issued.
The Commission notes that CFSX will broadcast 65 hours of local programming per week from studios in Stephenville and 103 hours of programming received from CFCB Corner Brook.
The Commission reaffirms the particular importance it attaches to the development of Canadian talent and notes the level of the licensee's commitment in this regard. In light of the financial situation of the Humber Valley Broadcasting Company Limited stations, taken as a whole over the last four years, the Commission is satisfied with the annual budget allocated.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In this regard, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
