Ottawa, 6 July 1995
Decision CRTC 95-393
Humber Valley Broadcasting Company Limited
Channel-Port-aux-Basques and St. Andrew's, Newfoundland - 941243800
Licence renewal for CFGN and its transmitter CFCV-FM
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-10 dated 20 January 1995, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking consisting of CFGN Channel-Port-aux-Basques and its transmitter CFCV-FM St. Andrew's from 1 September 1995 to 31 August 2002, subject to the conditions in effect under the current licence, as well as to those conditions specified in the licence to be issued.
The Commission notes that CFGN will broadcast 37 hours 30 minutes of local programming per
week.
The Commission reaffirms the particular importance it attaches to the development of Canadian talent and notes the level of the licensee's commitment in this regard. In light of the financial situation of the Humber Valley Broadcasting Company Limited stations, taken as a whole over the last four years, the Commission is satisfied with the annual budget allocated.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In this regard, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
