Special event licences
Following a Public Hearing in Winnipeg beginning on 5 June 1995, the Commission approves the applications for broadcasting licences for French-language FM community radio programming undertakings at Mattawa, North Bay and Verner respectively, to broadcast community programming during the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Festival, and during other community activities such as displays of the work of local artists, during June, August and October 1995. The broadcast of community-oriented programming is intended to stimulate interest in French-language community radio in the District of Nipissing.

Each undertaking will operate on frequency 93.5 MHz (channel 228LP) with an effective radiated power of 33 watts.2
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1992-38 dated 29 May 1992 entitled "Policies for Community and Campus Radio", the Commission will issue licences for Type A community radio stations. These licences will be in effect only for the duration of the events taking place during June, August and October 1995, subject to the conditions specified in the licences to be issued.
The Department of Industry has advised the Commission that these applications are conditionally technically acceptable, and that Broadcasting Certificates will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licences, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Industry that its technical requirements have been met, and that Broadcasting Certificates will be issued.
