Power Broadcasting Inc.

Barrie, Ontario - 950009100
Licence amendment for CIQB-FM
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-41 dated 7 March 1995, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CIQB-FM Barrie by decreasing the effective radiated power from 1,500 watts to 795 watts.
The licensee indicated that this reduction in power is coupled with an increase in the effective height of the antenna system and as a result, there will be no significant change in the authorized coverage area of the station. In addition, the licensee explained that the change is necessary in order to eliminate interference being caused to studio equipment at the co-sited CKVR-TV facility.
The Department of Industry Science and Technology (DIST) has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the DIST that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
